Auli Uttrakhand

This is my first post , which I am writing about my trip.(So pardon me for my mistake)

A travelling destination in uttrakhand.

Why you should go to AULI?

• If you Love skiing then it is must go place for you . Skiing track is of approximately 1.5 KM . Here i am pinging some of photos of track .
• Those who love high altitude place (Height - 3,049 m (10,003 ft))

• You can ride to Asia largest rope way (distance - 4 KM) . View of valley is fabulous from rope way vain . 
• Here below is some of photos taken from rope way (which takes you to skiing point in Auli)

• If you Love playing in snow then it is also best place to visit for you . I am giving some photos to have a look how Auli is looking in December

You can see I am standing on a road which is completely filled by snow (approx. 2-3 feet) snow in first snow fall .

Here whole Auli is located behind as you can see the beautiful Auli and its village.

If you love to do small trekking then you can trek to Auli from Joshimath . It will be approx 3 KM .     Here you will not any Guide for helping you in trekking , Because there is a path way made                  by locallite . Here are some snaps from our trekking -> 

There at the top of Auli an artificial lake is made for purpose of making skiing track for the       visitors (In case if there is no snow fall). In month of December it was fully freeze . Here are     some photos of lake .

 

How to reach  Auli ?

1.  Via Bus 

First you have to go to Joshimath from Dehradun / Rishikesh and you have to pickup the bus between 4 AM to 8 AM , because after that there will be no direct bus to Joshimath.

• Bus Fare - ₹480 (December 2014)
• Travel time - 12 Hrs approx.

In case you can't pickup your bus in time and you have go by same day  then you can go in following ways .

• Pickup bus for Srinagar uttrakhand from rishikesh or dehradun.

• From Srinagar uttrakhand pickup bus for Rudraprayag

• Or if possible pickup bus for Karnaprayag from Srinagar uttrakhand(Prefer this one)

• Then from Karnaprayag you can pickup bus for Joshimath  

Or if you didn't get any direct bus to joshimath from karnaprayag you can go to chamoli and then from chamoli to joshimath .

• Now from Joshimath to Auli 

1. You can go to Auli Via Rope way from Joshimath (Largest rope way of Asia - 4 KM ) . Here you will be charged ₹500  for round trip (Joshimath -> Auli -> Joshimath) . But you have to reach Auli rope way tower before 4:30 PM .(Prefer this way if you don't want trekking ).
2. You can trek to Auli from Joshimath . That is approx. 3 km , and I am you would love this way , Because that's the real way to feel the mountain .(And best thing FREE OF COST)
3. You can hire a taxi from Joshimath to Auli . But in month of December-March  it's not sure you can reach to Auli by taxi as road get very slippy because of snow . Cost - ₹1000-2000 for round trip .

Now my experience of visiting Auli.

It was 6 PM (IST)  when we reached Joshimath . We get very disappointed as market of Joshimath was very small and very less snow . We expected that there would be 2-3 feet snow as written in news paper . So we decided to stay in a hotel . We find a cheap hotel (₹400 after bargaining ) , hotel was fine . In night of same day we decided to have our dinner , but we were very confused where to have dinner as we were not able to find any good restaurants . Then we asked local people , they said Shelja would be good place . So we went there to have dinner , but as we expected food was not up to that quality . At that night we also went to wine shop to buy some beer and whisky , but in beer there was only two brand 99000 and God-Father (one of the worst brand ) and same with whisky . So I will suggest you to have your own beer and whisky .

Another day we wake up at 9:00 AM and have some breakfast and then hire a taxi for Auli in ₹1500 for round trip . Through taxi we had traveled only 4 km , then our taxi start slipping . Driver said that taxi could not go up now and leave us there . Then we started trekking form there with the help of local people . Then after climbing some height , we realized the natural beauty of Auli . As this was fabulous view . Then we realized it was worth coming here . After 2 and 1/2 hours of trekking we reached Auli , and then we realized that we have reached to heaven . We played a lot in snow , and have maggi in nearby shop . After that we go to rope way tower and reached the skiing port . We then book ski from there @ ₹500 per hour . We had lot of fun there . After that we reached to a shop which we named as (Double Shop ) as every thing was of double MRP there . 

We reaches to rope way station at 4:00 PM , and returned to Joshimath . Again we at night we went to same hotel and sleep , as we get tired in trekking .
